Tour plan

We begin by navigating the North Deep passage, where you'll glimpse the old WW2 artillery gun sites. These historic structures stand as a reminder of the Great Orme’s strategic significance during the war.

Hear the story of 6th-century priests from St. Tudno’s church, who once hid in a cave here, safeguarding their religious silver from Viking invaders. Learn about the fearsome raids by Vikings who sailed from the Isle of Man, terrorizing the coast of Wales.

As we sail around the towering cliffs, witness ledges bustling with razorbills, oyster catchers, and other seabirds. Our expert guide will share tales of shipwrecks, smuggling, and the dramatic attempt by two German U-boats to rescue escaped officers in 1915.

Built in 1862, this iconic lighthouse has guided sailors for over a century. The tragic story of James Lee, the lighthouse keeper’s 9-year-old son, adds a poignant historical note. James tragically fell to his death while collecting seagull eggs, which he sold for a penny to help support his family.

Sail into a secluded bay, known for its lobster pots and ties to smuggling during the Napoleonic Wars. In the 18th century, local dignitaries secretly purchased French brandy hidden in these coastal caves, making this shingle beach a hub for clandestine trade.

We cruise past Happy Valley, a charming Victorian pleasure garden, and round Llandudno Pier, a bustling landmark where the M.V. Balmoral excursion vessel docks during the summer season.

At Angel Bay, a peaceful cove, you’ll spot a thriving colony of grey seals that rear their young on the quiet shores. In the summer months, the bay often becomes a playground for dolphins, which swim alongside the seals.

As we head back toward Conwy at high speed, our guide will point out more wildlife and seabirds, while sharing stories of the caves once inhabited by coastal dwellers. You’ll also pass over the remains of medieval fish traps and the wreckage of the 'Flying Foam' sailing ship, a reminder of the treacherous waters that have claimed many vessels over the centuries.
