Tour plan
We begin by pausing at Puffin Island, where you’ll have the opportunity to observe seabirds and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Keep your camera ready for puffins, seals, and even dolphins as we navigate this wildlife-rich area.
Sailing past the historic town of Beaumaris, we’ll explore the history of Viking settlements that once dominated these shores. You’ll also see the ruins of Beaumaris Castle, a medieval fortress built by Edward I during his conquest of Wales.
As we approach the Menai Bridge, you’ll hear about its significance as an ancient ferry crossing point. Built in 1826 by Thomas Telford, this suspension bridge remains an engineering marvel, soaring 100 ft above the water.
Prepare to be amazed as we enter the Swellies, one of the most treacherous stretches of sea in the world, according to Admiral Nelson. The strong tidal currents, whirlpools, and over-falls have claimed countless ships, including the 90-gun HMS Conway. However, our high-speed RIB boats are perfectly equipped to safely navigate these dangerous waters.
Speeding under the towering arches of two iconic bridges—Robert Stephenson’s Britannia Bridge and Telford’s Suspension Bridge - you’ll witness the dramatic contrast of Victorian engineering. At the end of the Swellies, we reach Nelson’s Monument, built as a navigational guide to mariners braving these dangerous waters.
On the return journey, we pass by the picturesque Bangor Pier, one of the longest piers in Wales, and Gallows Point, a sinister reminder of the executions that once took place here. Local legend has it that the skeletons of those executed were displayed as a grim warning to others.
If conditions allow, we’ll venture through the Swash, where ancient fishermen once trapped salmon in huge numbers. In the summer months, the mountains to the south are awash with purple heather, adding to the beauty of this part of the coast.
Our journey concludes with a high-speed run back to Conwy, passing the golden sands of Morfa Beach and returning to the medieval town founded by Edward I, with its famous castle standing sentinel over the coast.

We had a great trip with Aquatour today. Two adults and two kids, and it was good fun for all of us. Jake was really knowledgeable and patient, especially with our daughter who had lots of questions. We saw loads of seals and also got to pick up some speed, which made it even more enjoyable! Definitely recommend.Posted on Ferdie van AsscheTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a nice hour long tour with our family on the fast boat. We encountered seals, a lot of birds as well as Kashmir goats on the steep slopes. Dolphins decided to remain hidden this time, but we got some useful advice for a location for spotting them from the coast: worked out well. Thanks, the kids loved it as well.Posted on DC Furacão PereiraTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
